A little history of our maps in Canmore
Where do I begin? Well, I will tell you that I am the only map publisher in Western Canada that actually created a visitor map guide in order to market my own business. My story started in Whistler in 1996, when I created a fun, playful, easy-to-use way finding system for the international guests. I gathered up 25 friends who owned businesses in town and we co-oped the costs. 25 bucks each for the first issue!
Fast forward to 2006 and I went bigger, better, snazzier, and fun-ner. I kept the same "co-op marketing for my best mates" philosophy and have managed to keep my rates the same-ish for the last 12 years running.
We launched our maps of Canmore and Banff in the spring of 2007 with both desktop and brochure map versions. In 2012 we responded to the marketplace needs and focussed on publishing the only brochure version of our maps in the Bow Valley. Ten years later, the visitor needs have changed again coming out of the pandemic and we’ve been asked to bring back our padded desktop maps!! So that is exactly what we did! All new summer desktop maps hit the marketplace in May 2024 with updated drawings and all kinds of goodies. And, the Winter version is now out!
I target our map guides towards women, children, international guests, and seniors (big type, soft colour palate, activi-toons). We ain’t no topographical map of Canmore. Nope, they aren’t geared for mountaineers! We are a pure visitor map of the Canmore that adds a little hospitality and adventure flare to front desks and visitor centres in town. You will see our maps in the hands of people out and about while shopping, dining, and looking for their next adventure.

Canmore
Accommodation: all accommodation in Canmore and Kananaskis. Serviced monthly. Info Centres: Travel Alberta. Downtown Businesses: we will be offering a map pad to every business in the downtown core twice per season. Points of Interest: all area campground check ins, All area car rental outlets, activity operator check ins, Canmore Library, Canmore Nordic Centre, + more.
Banff
We will distributed our Canmore maps to select accommodation providers upon their request. If you would like exposure on our Banff desktop map, we have just 3 spots available on the overview side of our Banff desktop map for businesses located in Canmore areas outside of Banff.

Lorie and her husband Oscar are your friendly distribution team in the Bow Valley. They live a stone’s throw away from our storage locker in Canmore and absolutely love their life in Rockies! When this busy couple isn’t hard at work they can be found exploring the trails of Banff and Canmore, participating in their church activities, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Did you know that we provide a certified distribution service? We use an smartphone app that is really cool. It allows me to assign the routes to our distribution reps where they log in and check off each location as they go. They even take pictures of the racks and maps at each location after delivery for extra accountability! That means peace of mind for you that your advertising dollars are hard at work!
